Iron Knob is located in South Australia on the Eyre Peninsula and with its large desposits of iron ore became the birth place of the Australian Steel Industry. However the mines closed in 1998 and Iron Knob was reduced to a ghost town with only about 200 residents in 2006. With the increase in property prices in the larger cities this may change and Iron Knob could become bigger than ever!
